Temporary Residence Permit (zezwolenienapobytczasowy) – a temporary residence permit in Poland, issued for one or two years if there are causes shown. The document provides a temporary residence permit in the country, official job and business opportunities, confirms the identity of the person and allows multiple crossing the Polish border without a visa.
Permanent Residence Permit (zezwolenienapobytrezydentadługoterminowegoUE / zezwolenienapobytstały) – document that confirms permanent residence in Poland, issued for 5/10 years, and then extended. Continuous stay in Poland for 5 years with a temporary residence permit gives the right to obtain a permanent residence permit. Upon receipt of such a document, the person has the right to stay in Poland without restrictions. There is no need to confirm the right to stay in the country.
After 3 years in permanent residence status, non-resident is eligible to apply for Polish citizenship. Citizenship may be granted for the following reasons: birth, descent or naturalization. In the absence of Polish origin foreigner may apply for citizenship after 8-10 years of legal stay in Poland (5 years in the status of a temporary residence permit, and 3 years in the status of a permanent residence permit or 9 years in the status of the temporary residence and year in the status of a permanent residence permit). In the presence of Polish origin foreigner may obtain citizenship under the simplified procedure (obtain a permanent residence permit and apply for citizenship after 2 years of stay in Poland on the basis of permanent residence).
