JOB LOSS


If a foreigner stays in Poland on the basis of a temporary residence permit or visa, works on the basis of a work permit, and loses his job (up to 3 months before the expiry of a work permit), the employer is obliged to report voevoda in written form about this fact . Voivoda starts the procedure of work permit cancellation. When the decision on cancellation of the work permit is issued, the foreigner loses his right on legal stay in Poland.
A foreigner may appeal the decision of voivoda at the Head of the Office for Foreigners. The stay of foreigners in Poland is considered legal until the decision the Head Office for Foreigners.
The job loss does not affect the legal stay of foreigners staying in Poland on the basis of a permanent residence permit or a residence permit for long-term resident of the EU. These foreigners retain their right on legal stay in Poland.

EMPLOYMENT CENTERS:
A foreigner staying in Poland on the basis of a temporary residence permit (residence permit for a fixed period of time) or visa is not allowed to register at the employment center as unemployed or job seeker, has no opportunity to get unemployment benefits, health insurance due to unemployment or services provided by employment centers.
A foreigner staying in Poland on the basis of a permanent residence permit or a permit for long-term resident of the EU has the right to register in the employment center and use all provided services.
